Big John  is a friendly, family-oriented resort hotel in Koh Samui, Thailand.  Formerly known as International Bungalows, our expanded Big John Resort is situated on the beautiful, quiet west coast. Our unique resort hotel and restaurant have been featured on many television travel programmes in Thailand and on satellite T.V. The accommodation is in two sets of beach villas and rooms, which are joined by a path along the beach. All rooms are double/twin rooms with bathroom, air conditioner, mini bar and satellite T.V. All have sea, garden or pool view and most have a terrace.

If you like a peaceful relaxing holiday in picture postcard surroundings, this is the hotel for you. The warm shallow waters make it an ideal place for the family. The quiet romantic setting makes it an ideal place for couples.

We can arrange weddings on the lovely beach in front of the hotel or a Buddhist ceremony at a local temple. We have a boat for trips to the Marine Park which can also be used for weddings.
Big John Seafood Restaurant is an institution on the island, serving both Thai and European food. As its name suggests , specializing in fresh local fish dishes. We can also arrange a celebration of any kind for you, large or small, we have many birthday and anniversary parties here .

The hotel has two sites joined by a beachfront path, all our rooms are furnished to the same high standard.

Last year we rebuilt our bungalows and villas at Big John 1. There are 12 bungalows, all have a double room, a bathroom with shower, changing/utility room and a terrace.  There are 4 villas which consist of 2 double bedrooms and a dining/kitchenette area. Both rooms have a bathroom, one with shower, one with bath and shower.  All rooms have king/twin bed. All have a view of the beach and are equipped with air conditioning, mini bar, satellite T.V. and DVD

There are 8 spacious bungalows with beach view, 14 rooms with shady terrace and garden or beach view. All have king/twin bed, air conditioner, bathroom with shower (bungalows also have a bath), mini bar and satellite T.V.

Right in front of your room you will find the 3km sandy beach. 30 people on it is crowded. The sand slopes gently into the sea, no deep drop off, no strong currents, so children can play safely on the edge of the water. Garden shade is provided by coconut trees. Or you can cool off in the pool. We aim to give you a relaxed, quiet holiday in a friendly atmosphere. Our staff are known for the outstanding service they give to guests. If you want something just ask, we do our best to provide all you need to enjoy your holiday.

» The island capital Nathon is only 4km away and perfect for shopping. We provide a twice daily service to Nathon free of charge.
» Guest transfers to and from Samui airport are 500 baht each way. To and from Nathon ferry terminal free of charge.
» Our girls at the front desk all speak English and will be happy to arrange anything you would like to do on the island, from cookery lessons to elephant rides.
» Travel service - we can arrange any tours within Thailand and onward travel to other destinations.
» If there is anything we haven't covered here just ask, if it's available, we can do it.

Eating at Big John Seafood is always memorable, we have the finest restaurant on the west coast. All our food is bought in fresh daily from the local markets. We don't do fast food, everything is prepared freshly for you, so forgive us if it takes a little longer to arrive at the table. Our restaurant is famous on the island for fresh seafood, bought in daily from the local fishermen. If you like fish try our seafood platter, a selection of freshly caught fish and shellfish served with rice baked in pineapple and a glass of white wine.  If fish is not your thing, that's O.K. we have many Thai and international dishes to choose from,

Many local people eat here, a tribute to the traditional Thai dishes produced by the chef, ask for them as mild or as spicy as you wish.

SUNSET DINNING
No we didn't touch up the picture, this is a typical sunset at Big John.  This is the best place on the island for open air dining.  Watch the sunset with cocktails, try our "Dangerous Sunset" or "White Sand" (or both)

PARTIES
Whatever the occasion Big John is the place to party.  Have a firework display, or traditional dance display. You could send a pom choy into the sky and make a wish as it joins the stars, or float a traditional Thai krathong in the sea and watch it sail away lit by candles and incense. Give us ideas on how to make your day special. You won't forget your party at Big John.

The restaurant is open all day from 7a.m. you can come and enjoy the beach. We provide free entertainment every evening from 7p.m. to 11p.m. Traditional Thai, Polynesian, South American or Disco dancing to our live musicians and singers.
